Without tranquility and serenity, our emotions, anger, and despair will prevent us from being able to look more deeply and see the nature of reality. Calming down, becoming serene is the first step of meditation. The second step is to look deeply to understand. Out of understanding comes compassion. From this foundation of understanding and compassion, you will be able to see what you can do and what you should refrain from doing. This is meditation. Every one of us has to practice meditation—the politicians, the military, the businessmen. All of us have to practice calming down and looking deeply.
– Thich Nhat Hanh

The Day of Mindfulness (DOM) is a one-day mindfulness retreat in the tradition of Plum Village and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. It is a day for the community to come back together to be nourished from the collective energies, practising leaving behind work and worries, to experience the many wonders of life. Together we learn to enjoy doing daily things with mindfulness – sitting, listening, eating, resting, walking, speaking – bringing our body and mind into the present moment.
